 Share  Tweet  Share

It might be very easy and interesting for you to close your books and sit on a beach or go to a movie than to sit and slog over a pile of books, breaking your head. Though it may be worth to take short breaks, when preparing for your USMLE or COMLEX exam, staying focused is an absolute necessity to get through the exam. Here below are ten tips that help you be focused whilepreparing for the USMLE or COMLEX exam.
Keep away from Distraction:
You know better about what keeps you away from focusing on your books. Be it a website or a Face book page, it is not worth wasting your valuable time for naught.
Schedule your time:
Keep aside your time of study. Plan your day and time even for personal things such as bath and grocery shopping.
Don`t stick to a topic till it turns mundane:
If you feel a particular topic is turning mundane, don`t try to slog on the same topic. Rather move to something else or refresh yourself and then continue. It is easier to deal with a difficult subject when your mind is fresher than slogging when you are completely drained out.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Choose your character. If you are an early bird, wake up early and deal with your really head breaking subjects. If you are a night owl, keep those subjects for the time when your roommate is fast asleep.
Have achievable targets:
Don`t imagine reaching the stars and plan your schedule. Have achievable targets for each day and pat yourself for reaching them.
Take time for a recap:
Every time you sit to study, make sure to recollect the last studied subject. This will help you keep your memory sharp regarding your subjects.
Stay focused on one topic:
Don`t waver while studying from one topic to the other, but stay in one. Wavering from one topic to another may leave you being a jack of all arts.

Don`t beat yourself for disappointments:
Many people make the mistake of brooding over spilt milk and procrastinate to do what is ultimately needed. If you fall once, get up, dust yourself and run.
Do not procrastinate:
When you have a feel to deal with a subject, deal it then and there. Do not procrastinate as you may tend to forget doing the task all together.
Take short breaks:
Never work continuously. It only compromises on your learning skills and you will feel easily drained out. Hang out with friends, once a while and you will feel real change in the atmosphere.
Take time to plan, stay focused, relax and be sure of your ultimate success!
